Let’s face it, waiting for a ferry isn’t always the most exciting part of your trip. But when you’re at Berjaya Waterfront, you can look forward to a smorgasbord of activities to pass the time!

Berjaya Waterfront isn’t just a ferry terminal. It’s also a 4.5-storey mall with an integrated hotel.

Whether you have 30 minutes or 3 hours to spare, here are 5 fun ways to make the most of your waiting time without even leaving the building.

1. Speed down the runway in a Go-Kart

Time flies when you’re speeding down a vibrant neon race track in an electric Go-Kart!

The Zone is the new entertainment hotspot in Berjaya Waterfront, with Go-Kart being one of the two major attractions.

If you haven’t been on a Go-Kart before, don’t worry! There are two types of Go-Kart that are catered to both casual and experienced drivers:
  • Basic kit - For first timers and beginners
  • Pro kit - For adrenaline junkies and experienced drivers
Whether you’re setting a personal best or just beating your travel buddies in a race, the vibrant neon track will make you feel like you’re in a cyberpunk Grand Prix.
  • Price: RM25 for 7 minutes per driver
Not into speed? No worries. How about letting off some steam by…

2. Hulking out in a Rage Room

First popularised in Japan in the mid-2000s, rage rooms have become all the rage!

The Zone’s Rage Room provides a safe environment for you to smash old household and electronics to smithereens. You can take out all that bottled up aggression on glass bottles and even larger electrical items like a CRT monitor.

Don’t worry about injuries before your trip - You’ll be decked out in a safety suit with gloves and goggles to prevent any unintended accidents.

Whether you’re venting out stress before your vacation or just curious to try something destructive (legally!), it’s guaranteed therapeutic fun.

Price:
  • RM30 for 6 bottles (10 minutes)
  • RM15 per additional 6 bottles
  • Top-up RM15 for an electronic item and 10 extra minutes.

Okay, so maybe you might prefer something chill to get you in the mood. How about…

3. Getting a relaxing massage

Depending on time, budget, and preference, you have the option of both human and electronic massages at Berjaya Waterfront.

Located on Level 2, Pusat Rawatan Bekam Assyafaah offers traditional foot and body massages, as well as body detox treatments like cupping. With plush chairs and private rooms amidst and a serene environment, you can indulge in total relaxation. The centre is also Muslim-friendly and is staffed by Muslim massage therapists.

If your body is aching but you don’t have the time to commit to a full massage, then there are plush massage chairs in the mall for a quick 10-minute body massage!

4. Shop fashion, toys, and more!

You’ll be surprised how quickly time passes when you’re browsing the shops!

Stores like Hot Market, Fashion Arena, and Mew Market make Berjaya Waterfront a one-stop shop for fashion, toys, and accessories. If you’ve forgotten to pack something, it’s likely you’ll find a replacement here.

Even if you aren’t looking for anything in particular, you can window-shop and browse through the rows of knick knacks available for sale. Who knows, you might even find something you never knew you wanted!

Let’s not forget that Berjaya Waterfront is also a duty-free zone. Situated on the ground floor are THREE duty-free shops:
  • The Zon (Duty-free alcohol and tobacco)
  • The Zon Chocolate (Duty-free chocolates)
  • D-Cottage (Duty-free beer)
And yes, you can absolutely bring some duty-free goodies to Batam with you! Read our article on duty-free regulations here

5. Chilling at a cafe or grabbing a meal on-the-go

Whether you arrive hungry or get peckish after expending all that energy in the Rage Room, Berjaya Waterfront has sit-down or grab-n’-go makan-makan to satiate your tummy.

For a Malaysian flavour, Jubilee’s Nanyang Coffee and D’JB Kopitiam are two kopitiams that offer local favourites such as roasted kopi, kaya butter toast and deliciously pedas nasi lemak. Here, you can sit down and relax or get some work done while enjoying an aromatic kopi ais.

If you’re up for some variety, Tezu Sushi offers hand-rolled sushi which you can pick and choose to your heart (and stomach)’s delight.

And if you don’t have time for a sit-down meal, grab a drink and a sandwich at 7-Eleven or a hot savoury waffle at Daily Fresh!

Just be sure you don’t miss your ferry!

With all these fun activities right at the ferry terminal, be sure to set an alarm. You don’t want to accidentally miss your ferry or, worse, fall asleep during a massage!

Even if you don’t have plans to go to Batam but happen to be in Johor Bahru, you can still visit the Zone or grab an Instagrammable meal by the sea.
