5 Glamping Getaways in Batam & Bintan for a Luxe Island Escape

In Batam, a camping holiday lets you wake up to the sound of waves, sleep under the night sky, and quite literally have the sea a few steps from your door. There’s a version of camping where you wrestle with tent poles, wake up sweaty, and question your life choices at 3AM.

But this is not that version.

A new generation of glamping experiences has taken root in Batam - one where “camping” comes with proper beds, proper bathrooms, air conditioning, and sunsets that feel suspiciously curated for Instagram.

If you ever wanted the camping experience while still feeling like you’re on holiday, here are five glamping getaways in Batam and Bintan that make roughing it feel like a distant memory.

1. Viovio Beach & Resort, Batam

On the southwestern tip of Galang Island, Viovio Beach has built its reputation on something that money can't buy: one of the best sunset views in Batam.

Situated here is the Viovio Beach & Resort, where accommodation options range from standard camping areas and garden cabanas to overwater domes and luxury glamping units.

Every Saturday night, the beach comes alive with live bands and DJ performances which makes Viovio the most social of the five properties on this list. Beyond the Saturday energy, daytime activities include banana boating, canoeing, paddle boating, and island tours - enough to keep you occupied if you start getting restless.

The drive from Batam city takes roughly an hour via the Trans-Barelang highway, which in itself is one of Batam's more underrated scenic routes, crossing the iconic Barelang Bridge.

2. Kiki Beach Resort, Batam

On the east side of Galang Island is Kiki Beach Resort. With no road access, getting there requires a combination of land travel and a short boat ride.

With low capacity and - by design - not even TVs in the rooms, Kiki Beach Resort is the quiet cousin of Viovio Beach & Resort. It’s a place for disconnection and introspection, and enjoying your natural surroundings. The activities here tilt towards the natural and the curious: forest hiking, hermit crab hunts at low tide, tidal walks, and ATV rides through the surrounding terrain.

However, this doesn’t mean the resort skimps on luxury. Accommodation options include overwater King rooms with direct beach access, a Treehouse room set up in the canopy, and a family villa with a separate living room. But the most popular option is the tented glamping suite, with en-suite bathrooms and plush bedding that lean firmly into the “glam” part of glamping.

3. Delmora the Villa, Batam

Delmora the Villa sits at Pantai Melur, a stretch of beach on Galang Island just a few kilometres away from Viovio Beach.

Here, you’ll find three accommodation types: the Delmora Tent, Delmora Villa, and Delmora Suite; each offering a mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. The tent glamping units are generously sized, fitted with a king-sized bed, sofa bed, wardrobe, and a private bathroom - the most hotel-like of the glamping properties in Batam.

On-site activities include jet skiing and swimming, with Pantai Melur beach itself being known for its white sand and breathtaking beachside views.

4. The ANMON Resort, Bintan

You won’t have to worry about ceiling height at The ANMON Resort.

Picture this: 100 teepee-style tents sitting just steps from the Crystal Lagoon, the largest man-made seawater lagoon in Asia. Each 45-square-metre tent has high ceilings, a private patio, and a skylight positioned directly above the bed for stargazing.

Activities include the popular Sand Dunes and Blue Lake tour, mangrove and fireflies tours, and full access to Treasure Bay's Crystal Lagoon, which offers paddleboarding, kayaking, and slip-’n-slide.

After the sun sets, the Tipi Bar and their award-winning mixologists offer a laid-back time with delectable drinks, while the outdoor cinema lets you watch your favourite movie stars under the stars.

5. Natra Bintan, Bintan

When a resort is under the Tribute Portfolio marque, you know you’re in for a unique luxury experience. Under the Marriott International brand, Tribute Portfolio hotels are focused on individual character and unique, localised experiences that are quirky, boutique, and very socially connected.

Natra Bintan also sits adjacent to the Crystal Lagoon and shares the Treasure Bay precinct with The ANMON, though the two properties have distinct personalities. Here, safari-themed tents are spread across the property, each exceeding 40 square metres and fitted with a four-poster bed, air conditioning, and a private outdoor patio. The deluxe tents also offer a private whirlpool for hydrotherapy with a view.

Activities include cable skiing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, knee boarding, private mangrove tours, electric scooter rentals, and tent-side BBQ setups. Marriott Bonvoy members can redeem points here, which makes Natra Bintan an easy choice if you’re already a member.
