Range anxiety is a reality for many EV owners planning to travel long-distance - especially to places they’ve never been to before.
If you’re driving an EV to Johor for the first time, here’s everything you need to know to set your mind at ease.

If you’re taking the North-South Expressway (PLUS) to Johor, then the R&Rs are both a lifeline for you and your car’s battery.
R&R Skudai is a must-stop, as the largest EV charging hub on the highway from KL to JB with JomCharge, Shell Recharge, Charge+ and the latest Tesla V4 Supercharger stations. While waiting, there’s a comfortable seating area with free Wifi to pass the time, grab a bite, visit their open-concept toilet, or explore the many Instagrammable areas around - including a beautiful LED ball garden.
Timing is everything when it comes to charging
While you shouldn’t face any problems on regular days, charging bay availability may be affected during holidays and long weekends.
During peak travel periods, consider charging earlier than usual, even if your battery isn’t low yet, and have a backup charging location in mind in case your first choice is occupied.

While most major towns and cities in Johor will have charging stations available, this may not be the case the further off the beaten path you go, or if you’re not driving in using the North-South Expressway. Much like in other states, Johor also does not have a single charging network, so it may be Shell Recharge in one spot and JomCharge in the other.
