Berjaya Waterfront Ferry Terminal: Connecting You to Tropical Paradises

Berjaya Waterfront Ferry Terminal: Connecting You to Tropical Paradises

Imagine a tropical holiday with beaches and plenty of other exciting activities. Holidays like these are the best cure for anything! Thankfully, as Malaysians, there are plenty of tropical destinations that are within reach. If you’re looking for suggestions on where to go, then consider the Batam and Bintan islands.

There are many reasons to choose these islands as your go-to destination.

Why Choose Batam and Bintan Islands?

Both Batam and Bintan are part of the Riau archipelago of islands that sit south of Peninsula Malaysia. As Malaysians, this means they’re extremely accessible. They’re so near the Southern tip of Johor that they can be reached in under a couple of hours.

Both Batam and Bintan islands have scenic beaches where you can indulge in a variety of activities, including water sports. They’re suitable for families, couples and solo travellers. Let’s find out about both islands in more detail.

Batam

Batam Island is quite a busy town. It functions as the capital and industrial area for the smaller, less populated neighbouring islands. These include Rempang and Galang. It also has an active tourism industry and welcomes visitors mainly from Singapore and Malaysia.

Apart from the beaches mentioned before, Nongsa Beach is the most famous. You can also check out the food culture here. You’ll find a mixture of Indonesian, Chinese and Western food, especially seafood.

Another must-go destination in Batam for tourists is Barelang bridge, where the views at sunset are not to be missed. An easy way to explore Batam is to book yourself into one of its many beach resorts. From here, you can go out after sunset to enjoy shopping centers, food courts, and the night life downtown.

Bintan

Bintan Island is located to the East of Batam and is slightly more rustic. Visitors begin their journey from the capital of Bintan, called Tanjung Pinang. You’ll be able to enjoy some of the popular beaches here, as well as go shopping at the center of Tanjung Pinang. There’s also the choice to visit local markets and explore the many Chinese temples on the island.

Tanjung Pinang is the perfect destination for those who prefer a slower and quieter holiday, as it doesn’t attract much crowds.

How Can I Travel to Batam & Tanjung Pinang?

There’s good news for Malaysians wanting to head to these two islands for a holiday. They are both reachable by a relatively short ferry ride from Johor Bahru. One of the places providing these ferry services is Berjaya Waterfront Ferry Terminal at Stulang Laut.

You’ll be able to enjoy all sorts of benefits from Berjaya Waterfront Ferry Terminal,as long as you can find your way to Johor Bahru.

Why Should I Choose Berjaya Waterfront Ferry Terminal?

The Berjaya Waterfront Ferry terminal is not the only option to travel to Batam and Bintan, but it does stand out in many ways. Here are some of the reasons why you should choose this ferry terminal over others.

Multiple Daily Trips for Your Convenience

Ferries from Berjaya Waterfront target two destinations in Batam daily. There’s one for Batam Center and another for Harbour Bay. You can expect up to 13 trips to Batam Center and 5 trips to Harbour Bay daily, beginning as early as 7:15 am, with the last ferry departing around 5:30-6:00 pm.

For Tanjung Pinang, travellers can expect one trip daily on weekdays and two on weekends, mainly in the afternoons.

Trips to Batam take about 1.5 hours whereas trips to Tanjung Pinang take about 3 hours. The ferries at Berjaya Waterfront are known for being punctual.

Modern, Comfortable Facilities

Every ferry provided is spacious, comfortable and fully air-conditioned. You can count on these modern high-speed ferries to ensure a speedy and safe journey.

Berjaya Waterfront’s ferry terminal consists of two floating pontoons with 4 berthing bays each. This allows all the ferries to arrive and depart promptly. Extensions are available should the situation call for it.

The waiting area is fully air-conditioned and located indoors. Whilst waiting for one’s ferry, visitors can take advantage of the mall facilities next to the terminal. Here, there are many shopping and dining in comfort.

Easy Booking and Payments Systems

Those who wish to travel to Batam and Bintan islands do not need to buy tickets on-site. Tickets can be easily purchased at Berjaya Waterfron’s own website with various payment methods accepted. Additionally, you can also buy the tickets at the Ferry Terminal counter directly.

However, this doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get the ticket on the day you want, as the ferries may be fully booked. Buying online in advance is always a wiser option.

Affordable Rates

One-way tickets to Batam cost only RM100 whilst two-way tickets cost RM160. If you’re travelling to Tanjung Pinang you’ll have to pay RM130 for one-way and RM210 for two-way tickets. There are some extra costs such as group insurance and ferry port surcharges. However, these fall below RM20 per person.

In general, you can see how affordable it is to travel via ferry. What’s even better is that for return tickets, you have the versatility to use it at any time, as long as you leave your destination within 3 months of your original arrival date.
